Palau sheetlet for CAPEX '96 honors explorers

Article Abstract:

On Apr 29, 1996 Palua released two stamp sheetlet of nine stamps each. They contain pictures of nine sailor and nine pilot circumnavigators. Each is shown with the vehicle used. The sailings dated from the 1500s to 1960. The pilots honored include Yuri Gagarin, 1961 and and Lowell Smith, 1924.

Gambia sheetlet honors prominent rock & roll singers

Article Abstract:

The singers honored include, Jimi Hendrix, Chuck Berry, and Buddy Holly. The stamps were designed by the French artist Jean-Paul Puvilland. A brief history of the rise of the Black American form of popular music that influenced such as Elvis Presley and the Beatles, is presented.
