The story beyond the story of the great tourmaline discovery

Article Abstract:

Mineralogist Dean A. McCrillis' account of his big tourmaline find started when he joined friends for an exploratory rights to mine the Dunton pit at Newry, Maine. Significant amounts of tourmaline crystals were found, which include iron tourmaline.

Frank Perham maintains that the Harvard quarry yields stones perfect for gem cutting and costume jewelry use. He maintains that stonework is hard but rewarding since the products being turned out show wonderful craftsmanship worthy of being copied.
