The story behind 'Operation Crossroads' cover

Article Abstract:

On July 1, 1945 about 25,000 stamped unaddressed envelopes were put aboard 'Able Day' one of the atom bombers. After the bomb was dropped these were given as souvenirs to personnel who worked on the project. A cachet was designed for the covers and the photo offset was immediately destroyed.
