Rick Brown is a history buff that collects Abraham Lincoln memorabilia, specifically, items that surround the president's assassination. Brown's passion is to collect old newspapers as he feels that newspapers stories from that era differ considerably from the existing accounts, since in the 21st century, stories are quite short, describing the basic, whereas newspaper stories in Lincoln's era were considerably longer, with emotion-filled accounts from actual witnesses.

An Americana auction in rural Maine drew a very large crowd. A black carving fetched $28,000, a Queen Anne table brought in $28,000, and a James Bard oil painting sold for $137,500. Several other pieces auctioned are described.
