A river runs through it

Article Abstract:

A restoration project designed to repair eroding channel banks, clean the water, and restore the natural buffer zone of a damaged and sediment-filled stream at the Chicago Botanic Garden proved successful. Following two years of intense labor by Botanic Garden staff, who planted erosion resistant plants and created a riparian buffer zone, the stream runs clear and is the habitat for a variety of wetland species. The restoration project also serves as an educational example of stream bank stabilization techniques.
