Amberina: The New England glass company's parti-colored art glass

Article Abstract:

Objects made in the authentic Amberina style are made from a batch of amber glass chemistry to which a small quantity of soluble gold is added. The defining characteristics of the finest Plated Amberina are the shade of golden yellow in the base of the object to a rich fuchsia-red at the top, the ware has a creamy opal lining which frequently shows a delicate, almost unperceivable, tint of blue and the most notable features is the series of vertical ribs on the outer surface.

Luxury boxes for vanity and pleasure

Article Abstract:

The ritual of producing and opening a grandly ornate box with discreet gestures and flourishes became as much as ceremony as the actual sniffing of the exotic powders. The enameled transparent cranberry and amber glass boxes are undoubtedly from the Moser glass decorating shop, and the iridescent art glass box is of the quality and style of the Loetz glass factory.
