Article Abstract:

The diascia is a beautiful and long-blooming perennial from South Africa. A member of the figwort family, the blooms range from orange to pink with salmon being the predominant color. They grow best in zones 7-9 and in well drained soil and need full sun at least part of the day.

Vines are a versatile choice for any site and, as long as cultural requirements are met, the gardener can play with form and texture by manipulating how the vine is grown. Different characteristic types of shade-tolerant vine like the Twiner, Clinging vine are discussed.
