A heavenly day at McDonald Observatory

Visitors can look through specially filtered telescopes at the McDonald's Observatory in the University of Texas. Regular public viewings at the observatory's visitors center near Fort Davis, TX, attract queues. A Star Party is held three nights a week at 9:30 p.m.

Vast numbers of animals migrate or pass through to the South each year. These include the return of geese to the Eastern Shore, passing of Neotropical birds in search of breeding grounds and arrival of ocean fish in the spring.
