Eastern Eden: a garden teahouse provides a quiet sanctuary

Article Abstract:

A beautiful, Japanese-style teahouse was constructed at the center of a Japanese garden, which provided the owners with a perfect setting for their wedding and also provided them with a quiet retreat that combined rusticity with refinement. The teahouse was made using fir beams, nails, iron bolts for joining the posts and rafters, rectangular tiles and the rustic look was achieved by using Wara Jaraku, which is an imported Japanese stucco based on sand and straw and was troweled on by hand.
