Fire ants

Article Abstract:

Two varieties of fire ants in the US are imported from S America, and one, found from N Carolina to California, is domestic. They are omnivores with diets that include seeds, small rodents, and snakes. A sting from a red imported may be fatal, but all are painful. Tips on control are given.

Techniques for having a good fire in a wood stove include controlling rate of burn, overnight banking for an easy morning start, and slowing the buildup of creosote. Tips on good wood stove fires, are given. Care of firewood, choosing the wood, and the use of the poker, are all discussed.
