Green bottle-glass paperweights were made before 1850. Its designs were usually of flowers and bubble-patterns which were created by blowing air through a long, hollow needle into the plastic glass. The collectors items fetch a modest price compared to its French counterparts.

Nontas and James Konte may very well be called the fathers of plaque-type paperweights. The brothers were introduced to the art of making paperweights in the late 1940's by Charles Kaziun. Their unique plague weights are made up of lampwork and tank-gathered crystal.
