Hair receivers: Secret beauty aids of the past

Article Abstract:

A hair receiver can be identified by a finger-wide hole in the lid, through which hair is deposited, which is made of a variety of materials including glass, celluloid and porcelain. Japanese potters created hair receivers, however it is uncertain whether Japanese women also collected their spare hair for adornment.
