Impressions of a house

Article Abstract:

The Connecticut farmhouse and land of artist J. Alden Weir has been preserved as a National Historic Site. Traded for in 1882 with a painting and $10, the farm is now the first historic site designated foran artist. Weir's works are displayed in the farm, which has been maintained ashe painted it.

Interior decorator and antiques dealer John Oetgen decorated his Ansley Park, GA, house using a mixture of styles from 18th century classicism to 20th century modernism. The overall impression is French, symbolic and dramatic, showing the strong influence of French harlequin art.
