Online retail virtually assured

Article Abstract:

The Internet offers excellent opportunities for home improvement retailers to generate additional sales, but not a single retailer offers online shopping, despite the great advantages electronic commerce offers. A NetRatings report notes that of the 43 million people with access to the Internet, more than 12 million had bought something online. Internet sales are expected to reach $70 billion by 2005 and hardware retailers must establish a presence to capitalize on this boon.

Putting the 'power' in power tool sales: accessories are the key to the power tool niche

Article Abstract:

Independent building supplies retailers need to focus their marketing efforts on power tool accessories rather than on the tools themselves, according to Weiler Brush Company Inc's George Longridge. Accessories are more profitable than tools, he explained. The results of a Home Improvement Research Institute study support Longridge's claim. According to the study, the most commonly purchased power tools/accessories in 1995 were drills and saw blades.
