Landon collection of American Fine and Decorative Art

Article Abstract:

'A Jefferson Ideal: Selections from the Dr. and Mrs. Henry C. Landon III Collection of American Fine and Decorative Arts', held at the University of Virginia Art Museum in Charlottesville, Virginia, from August 27- November 23, 2005, is the first exhibition of Landon's nationally recognized collection of over 70 major works of American fine and decorative art. The exhibition includes major pieces of furniture, portrait paintings of early 18th and 19th centuries and landscapes of the mid-19th century, making it one of the most outstanding collections.

The Anne Lewis collection of Amish & Mennonite stuffed animals

Article Abstract:

'Gentle Companions', an exhibition of 150 examples from Anne Lewis' collection of antique stuffed animals made by Amish and Mennonite for their children was held at the Quilt & Textile Museum in Lancaster, which is the best collection. Made between 1880 and 1950, the Lewis collection depicted mostly domestic farm animals made of natural fibres, demonstrating a flair for creativity and a good sense of humor.

Houston architect, Don Minzenmayer's preoccupation is to collect corkscrews. He was invited to join the International Correspondence of Corkscrew addicts (INCA) and was elected "Right" for a term of two years.
