Le Clos Normand: artful division brings a sense of surprise and space to a small cottage garden in France

Article Abstract:

Kargere has taken a former orchard and filled it with plants and shrubs to blend with her sea environment. The centerpiece of her cottage garden is the variety of rose species and hybrid ramblers. There is a constant display of color which enhances the rustic quality of the garden's design.

Rudkin's rooms: outside Paris, an American painter creates a garden of many parts

Article Abstract:

Rudkin bought his wooded, hilly country home in 1970 and began the process of clearing out overgrown brambles and weeds that were suffocating the oak and chestnut trees. He designed an all-season, formal ornamental garden with a series of square garden rooms.

Paradise regained: on the island of Martinique, one man's dream garden flourishes in a long-neglected site

Article Abstract:

Jean-Philippe Thoze used family land to create the Garden of Balata. It took many years to clear the land of undergrowth and to change the terrain for new plantings. Examples of this landscape designer's work is illustrated.
