The uses, benefits, and the growing need of turfs, self-sufficient lawn grasses, are described. Various government programs are focusing on their development considering the ecological concerns as they are less expensive, filter pollutants from air, absorb carbon dioxide and release oxygen.

Trees are living history, inspiring an almost religious awe, the next generation will not experience it if new threats are not addressed. The US Department of Agriculture is conducting an ambitious campaign to locate, fell, and burn all infested trees.
