Raise the roof

Article Abstract:

Across the northwest, flat roofs top apartment buildings, office complexes and supermarkets are cheap and easy to build, but it can be a bad choice in cool and wet conditions. King County Housing Authority (KCHA) introduced the warm roof design in its properties, working with jurisdictions for code change to allow improved design, so that besides being energy efficient, roofs built this way would last longer than the traditional roofs.

Bioterrorism regulations invoked for Pelargonium disease

Article Abstract:

Quarantined nurseries growing geraniums (Pelargonium spp.) has to undergo USDA's Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service scrutiny to prevent an outbreak of a fungal disease caused by southern bacterial wilt (Ralstonia solanacearum race 3 biovar 2). The infected plants will be destroyed under strict quarantine protocol laid under the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Agricultural Bioterrorism Act of 2002.
