Retrofitting residential HVAC systems

Article Abstract:

Retrofits depend on the current condition of the building envelopes and HVAC systems, the local climate, the materials and construction method used for the house and the presence of various energy saving systems such as a heat recovery ventilator. If a retrofit is not acceptable by code, the user should look at alternative packages, that are less controversial, based on the various intervention level contained.

Energy efficiency in historic homes

Article Abstract:

An effort is made to retrofit historic homes that will lead to greater energy efficiency, greater comfort, and better protection for precious articrafts. Reducing the energy in these homes has a number of benefits such as it can help government agencies or private conservators to stretch tight budget and it can also help to maintain a better indoor environment for the artifacts housed within them.
