Rinker on collectibles

Article Abstract:

Certain guidelines are provided to help one determine whether the antique is authentic. The first rule is to assume that every piece is a reproduction or fake until it is proved otherwise and therefore question the size, pattern, shape, and see if all of it conforms to the standards of the period in which it was produced, the second is that it should not look new as it is supposed to be old and anything which is around for 100 odd years is bound to look old and thirdly to examine it in natural sunlight or if using a light, make certain to use a raking light.
