Testing soil to determining the nutrients needed is the first step in the home use of fertilizers. Both organic and synthetic fertilizers aid plant growth, but synthetic varieties need to be supplement with organic matter to maintain soil health. Specific instructions for fertilizing trees, lawns and flowers are presented.
