Tommy Simpson: Tapping into universal memory

Article Abstract:

Tommy Simpson, a craftsman making furniture and carved paintings gives literal sense to his works, which makes him distinct from many other craftsmen. Some of Simpson's most riveting works are carved reliefs of organic forms painted in subtly modulated palettes.

Thomas Gentille

Thomas Gentille's exhibition at Helen Drutt in Philadelphia, PA showcases Gentille's craftmanship in the art of jewelry making. Most of Gentille's works include pins and brooches made from aluminum and from Surell, a Formica plastic product.

Billie Jean Theide

Article Abstract:

Billie Jean Theide is a professor of art at the University of Illinois, and she is also a crafts artist who uses both metal and ceramics in her work. Theide's personal work is centered almost exclusively on the form of the teapot.
