Corporate Reorganization - A Case Study

Article Abstract:

Government regulations and a reduced patient census have forced hospitals to develop strategic objectives resulting in different, diversified health care roles. Park Ridge Hospital in Greece, New York assessed its corporate structure and future growth potential and decided to reorganize. This process began with documenting the existing structure and interviewing keyboard members and management staff to identify what they wanted to achieve through corporate reorganization. Criteria were established and organizational alternatives were reviewed and tested against the criteria. Two alternatives, a holding company and sister corporation, were selected for further study. Advantages and disadvantages of both alternatives were noted and the final decision was to choose the sister corporation model.
