Welfare use: implications for teen mothers' education

Article Abstract:

The effect of welfare benefits on school enrollment of teenage mothers was determined. The results indicated thatthe vital factors in retaining teenage mothers in educational programs include receiving financial assistance from Aid to Families with Dependent Children andSupplemental Food Program for Women, Infants and Children, staying with parentsand public expenditure on education. However, receiving food stamps adversely affected the educational attainment of teenage mothers.

Using USDA food plans and food cost inventories in dietetic education

Article Abstract:

A food-cost inventory project was incorporated into a senior-level community nutrition course to provide students with information on food costs and food budget management, the dietetic and nutritional problems of low-income families and to familiarize the students with the US Dept of Agricultre Food Plans and the Food Stamp Program. The students appreciated the food-cost inventory project with the objectives accomplished.

Issues in art education

Article Abstract:

Disciplined-based art education integrates four approaches to the study of art: production of studio art, art history studies, understanding of art criticism and analysis of aesthetics. This is a more rigorous approach than the traditional methods of teaching art which focus mainly on studio production.
