Article Abstract:

Chickadees, members of the titmouse family, are enjoyed by many people throughout the winter months. Chickadee physiology, such as the ability to shiver, enables it to survive cold temperatures. Food searches, nest building, social interaction, and other activities of chickadees, are described.

Article Abstract:

Houses between 25 and 50 years old may accumulate dangerous snow loads. Newer houses, because of codes, can withstand heavy loads, and earlier houses were designed for heavy loads. Why houses can accumulate heavy loads, or form ice dams is explained. Tips for safely clearing roofs are given.
