Bigger is not always better

The Top 100 specialty stores in America showed growth as they gained market share and opened nearly five times as many stores as the other conventional furniture retailers included in the list. The combined sales of the specialty stores increased to 9.1% and $8.7 billion, thus giving them a 35% share of all the Top 100 sales.

Leon's profits soar 63.7%

The first quarter sales of the retailer Leon's Furniture increased by 13.7% in 2004 as the net income soared to 63.7% in Canada. Terry Leon, the president of the retailer, commented that an increase in the same-store sales, an enhanced product offering and a new marketing campaign, was responsible for improved performance.

Epperson: 6.5% growth in '06

According to a new forecast from Mann, Armistead & Epperson, Greensboro, North Carolina based retail furniture and bedding sales should jump 6.5% in 2006, more than double this year's growth. The relevant statistics of the furniture and bedding sales are presented.
