Ethan Allen has unveiled a new series of television advertising commercials created by Grey Advertising as part of an ongoing $60-million campaign covering both national and cable networks. The ads are composed of 15- and 30-second TV spots that highlight Ethan Allen's reputation for innovation in style pervading all product categories. Ethan Allen has a wide variety of upholstery selections that are distinguished by their stylishness aside from their comfortability, affordability and durability. The new ads are a continuation of a series of upholstery ads that were began three years ago.

Leather sales still sizzling

Leather upholstery products are increasingly becoming more appealing to consumers, with an expectedly healthy growth rate of 15% in 1998. Top players indicate that the main reason for the improvement in leather sales is its deep penetration into mainstream America, with new styles, shapes and colors created to appeal to a broad range of consumers. Dennis Burgette of Action Lane said that price points are attracting younger consumers, although leather captures all generations. A sampling of manufacturers showed that leather contributes almost 20% of upholstered furniture sales.
