Leather fights hard for gains

Article Abstract:

The growth of leather upholstery seating, which skyrocketed from 10% of all U.S. retail upholstery sales in 1992 to a 25.9% share by 2001, is undergoing a slight decline. Domestic leather suppliers, facing the competition from microfabric materials and also the eastern countries, are turning their attention inward, upgrading their commitment to building a better, more stylish product.

Leather fights off weak dollar

International sourcing programs, new cover choices and other innovations in the American market has geared up leather upholstery manufacturers. The distraction of the weaker dollar that is making some imported upholstery more expensive to U.S. buyers are tried to overcome by the leather upholstery manufacturers.
