Nautica makes Federated splash

Lexington Furniture's Nautica Home collection, which was introduced with special events in summer of 1998 at Federated divisions, has been getting strong response from consumers. Federated Merchandising Group VP of Furniture Bob Handler noted initial sales of Nautica Home collection at Federated's 35 divisions, including Macy's East, Rich's, Bon Marche, Macy's West and Burdines, have exceeded expectations of the stores. Handler also noted that Federated divisions put more emphasis on the Nautica brand, making it one of the seven most important brands of Federated.

LifeStyle postpones IPO

Article Abstract:

LifeStyle Furnishings International Chairman Wayne Lyon has declared the furniture manufacturer will suspend its plan to hold an initial public offering due to unfavorable stock market conditions. Lyon noted it is yet to be determined when the market for furniture stocks become receptive again but stressed he is confident that it will not take long given the fundamental strength of the US economy. LifeStyle plans to sell stocks amounting to $400 million via the IPO, allowing the public to control a minority stake in the company.
