Retailer overcomes obstacles to build $15M company

Article Abstract:

Terri's Consign & Design Furnishings has grown from $2,000 in sales to be a consignment superstore and franchising operation with over $15 million in sales. The company now has 12 stores in Arizona, California, Nevada and Georgia, after it opened a sixth Phoenix area store in February 1998. The retailer's owner, Terri Bowersock, emerged to be successful despite the challenge of her dyslexia. The company sells higher-end furniture, about 60% of which come from homes of the public, while the other 40% are from other dealers' closeouts, liquidations or manufacturers' leftovers or samples.
