SOHO hits the hot button

Article Abstract:

Small office/home office (SOHO) furniture sales are strong, as more people are working in small companies, or working at home. Estimated annual sales are at $20 billion for SOHO-related products and services. Of that, about $11.5 billion is in furniture sale. This number does not include ready-to-assemble furniture. The Business Industry Furniture Manufacturers Association (BIFMA), also predicts annual sales growth of about 8%. Because of these statistics, commercial channels are rethinking product lines. For example, local department stores' furniture sales are about 40% in SOHO furniture.
