The arrival of spring prompts a woman to consider spring cleaning. With every passing season, she feels the same urge to get rid of clutter. As she prepares to clean house, she pauses and thinks about interior designer Mario Buatta's opinion on cluttered homes - and gives up cleaning.

Metropolitan Home has helped shape the design life of an entire generation since the first issue was released in Apr 1981. The editors admit that the magazine has made some serious design errors, but they tried to consistently produce ideas that give a home a feeling of serenity.

A trend in need is a trend indeed

The homes featured in Metropolitan Home are not simply examples of trends. Trends can both catalyze and reflect social changes. To describe the magazine's homes as reflections of trends would trivialize their significance.
