Who'll pay to play God?

Article Abstract:

Scientists from France's top genomics laboratory, the Centre d'Etude du Polymorphisme Humain (CEPH), spent much of 1993 discussing possible joint projects with American start-up biotechnology company Millennium Pharmaceuticals. The CEPH scientists were looking to advance their research into genes linking diabetes and obesity. However the French government blocked the deal after discussions collapsed in Feb. 1994. CEPH scientists had been using genetic samples from French diabetics for their research and there were concerns over handing over French DNA to an American company.

Article Abstract:

Antique furniture made prior to 1830, when mass production began, is a finite and extremely expensive commodity. Quality reproductions are being made today, and many of these are sturdy and beautiful. There are also some shoddily made products, so the consumer should shop carefully.
