Integrate strategy and information technology

Article Abstract:

Many companies invest large sums of money in computer systems without making corresponding changes in organizational structure. Studies conducted on productivity show that productivity levels remain unchanged while the amount of money spent on computers rises. Common mistakes in computer system implementation are: failure to analyze the social aspects, using the machine for tasks that are seldom done, increasing the speed of a process that is already outdated, and not spending enough time on system design. It is suggested that a strategy be devised that takes future needs into account as well as targeted users.
