Behavioral health care solutions: attacking the disability and absenteeism epidemic

Article Abstract:

Employers need to enforce adequate programs to check the rising disability and workforce productivity costs in order to maintain their competitiveness in the global economy. Programs should be capable of showing on a short-range basis that they can effectively resist the escalating costs. Promising behavioral interventions include disability prevention programs, specialized psychiatric disability case management and psychological support schemes.

An EAP is a pretty reasonable accommodation: the EEOC's new ADA mental disability guidelines

Article Abstract:

An employee assistance program (EAP) familiar with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission's Americans with Disabilities Act is capable of helping small employers in predicting and handling the unpredictable mental disability matters that are inclined to emerge sooner or later. An effective EAP should be able to concentrate immediately on business results, employee welfare and legal risk management.

Waiting periods and health-related absenteeism: the need for program integration

Article Abstract:

Evidence is presented that shows reducing waiting period deductibles in corporate disability insurance policies increases the amount of lost time used by workers and the cost of sick leave.
