Bonus must be paid in respect of compulsory maternity leave

Article Abstract:

The case of Hoyland v. Asda Stores Ltd., where an employer breached the Article 141 of the EC treaty by reducing the bonus of an employee by her period of compulsory maternity leave has been discussed.

The tribunal has rejected the claim of equal pay on the basis of lack of evidence to support the awards and costs against the employee in the case of Lwin v Hastings Borough Council.
