Business growth driven by staff development

Article Abstract:

Ruiz Food Products Inc's commitment to continuous employee development has contributed largely to the company's success in the frozen food industry. Company policy has always centered on the enhancement of workers' interpersonal and educational skills as management realizes that growth can only be achieved through a skilled workforce. To foster the need for continuous development, management created an on-site education center where workers can acquire technical and personal improvement training. English and Spanish literacy classes as well as other life skills are also taught. Although the center was first funded by a grant from the California State Employment Training Program, the company now shoulders its entire operation. The caring environment embedded in the company's corporate culture and the adoption of educational policies to a socially diverse workforce has delivered the company from facing diversity issues that have confounded other major companies.

PEOs make HR easier with staff leasing

Article Abstract:

A company grappling with high employment costs may want to consider outsourcing HR services to a professional employer organization (PEO). In fact, this company can outsource the administration of its entire workforce, a practice known as employee leasing, to a PEO. Aside from employee leasing, HR services offered by a typical PEO include administration of payroll, unemployment insurance, workers' compensation and payroll-tax compliance. It can also supply job descriptions, employee manuals, and employee assistance program services. Companies that hire the approximately 2,500 PEOs in the US can enjoy higher savings, lower risks, improved efficiency, focus on core business and a better workforce. Nevertheless, the practice of outsourcing HR and leasing employees has its limitations and risks so companies should determine first if it is the right strategy for them.
