Controlling oil spills

Article Abstract:

Leakage from unbounded oil storage tanks, inadequate storage facilities and equipment, vandalism and poor management systems are the main causes of more than 5000 oil spill accidents. As per the Control of Pollution (Oil Storage) (England) Regulations 2001, secondary containment is to be provided by oil storage organizations for preventing leakage or oil spill from entering controlled waters.
