Different ties from different needs: recruitment practices of entrepreneurial firms at different developmental phases

Article Abstract:

The study examines how entrepreneurial firms tap evolving social network ties in order to facilitate the acquisition of their core management members during the start-up and the growth phases. It was found that the characteristics of the network ties utilized in recruiting core team members at both phases remained consistent.

Contingent labor as an enabler of entrepreneurial growth

The benefits and the risk of engagement of contingent workers are analyzed. Emerging ventures can achieve enhance growth and productivity by making purposeful and intentional decisions concerning when and what type of labor to utilize and how to manage and integrate them with the traditional employees.

Human resource management problems over the life cycle of small to medium-sized firms

Article Abstract:

The manner in which the human resource (HR) problems vary over the organizational life cycle is examined using a sample of 2,903 small to medium-sized firms. It was found that a four-stage model was appropriate and the HR problems varied across different stages defined by growth.
