Fading prospect of worldwide agreement in chemicals

Article Abstract:

The International Trade Secretariats (Global Unions) and world-level sectoral employers organizations have had a few agreements signed, noteworthy of which was between the International Federation of Building and Wood Workers and the Confederation of International Contractors' Associations. However, the dialogue to secure a global union-employer agreement for the chemical sector by Responsible Care, the world wide chemical industry initiative on health, safety and environment, has failed so far.

88th ILO conference adopts maternity protection convention

Article Abstract:

The International Labor Conference was held in Geneva, Switzerland, from May 30-Jun 15, 2000. Representatives of the International Labor Organization, labor ministers, labor union executives and employer organization members attended. Working mothers and international labor standards were discussed.
