Increasing benefit plan value through outsourcing

Article Abstract:

Plan sponsors are advised to adopt a framework for dealing with the strategic opportunities offered by outsourcing and maintaining the quality of ongoing administration and employee interaction. Service providers, on the other hand, should coordinate with plan sponsors to guarantee that outsourcing meets their expectations. The framework will help forge a strategic alliance between a company and its outsourcing provider that will achieve the desired outcome.

Article presents employers with an approach to reducing the level of increase of prescription drug costs by managing both the demand and supply sides of the prescription drug equation. This approach involves both managing employee utilization and negotiating with vendors.
