Knowledge creation and learning in international HRM

Article Abstract:

Companies need to move away from a piecemeal approach to international human resource management (IHRM) and instead adopt an integrated perspective within a framework of learning and knowledge. The theory and practice of IHRM often focuses on expatriation and repatriation, but this often ignores the learning opportunities and problems associated with other 'international assignments'. A learning perspective can help firms ensure their staff have the social, personal and technical skills needed for international assignments.
