Man of the moment: Richard Worsley - director, corporate personnel and corporate services, British Telecom

Article Abstract:

Richard Worsley, director of corporate personnel and corporate services for British Telecom, was appointed to the position as one of the last moves in the company's reorganization in October 1985. He succeeded Mike Bett, who was named managing director of local communication services for the company. Although Worsley's new position does not include a place on British Telecom's board, he does not seem to mind, believing that his position is essentially a support activity. Prior to this position, Worsley served as employee relations manager and head of personnel for British Aerospace, and while both Bett and Worsley share similar backgrounds, they are very different people. Worsley's background and the job ahead of him at British Telecom are described.
