Managing human resources across cultures: a comparative analysis of practices in industrial enterprises in China and The Netherlands

Article Abstract:

Human resource management techniques may vary between countries of differing culture and ethnic origins. China is a prime example of a country which has a strong culture of discipline and organisational structure in the workplace, which relies on respect and hierachy. Workers in the Netherlands prefer to work on a co-operative basis, developing working partnerships built on trust, encouragement and success.

What motivates R & D professionals? Evidence from decentralized laboratories in Greece

Article Abstract:

Factors influencing work motivation of research and development (R & D) professionals, are examined, in the light of a survey in decentralized R & D laboratories in Greece. Impact of intrinsic and extrinsic compensation, on performance of these professionals is also analyzed.
