Mobile phones and radiation - are they safe?

Article Abstract:

Studies show that mobile phones in the UK do not exceed current radiation exposure guidelines, according to the National Radiological Protection Board, but there is still controversy over potential health hazards. Cellular phones emit electromagnetic signals, but are held close to the head, unlike other modern electronic devices that also emit such signals, such as microwave ovens and computer monitors. A new device can reduce the amount of radiation reaching the head by 75-90%, whilst retaining sound quality. It is produced from hytrel, a collapsible plastic, and can be attached to the ear piece of a cellular phone.
