Sponsoring employees for a part-time MBA

Article Abstract:

Warwick University Business School in the UK has been offering a part-time MBA program to employees from a wide variety of industries for 25 years. Practically all of the students who have enrolled in this program have been sponsored by their companies. Warwick's part-time MBA program director believes that ensuring the suceess of MBA sponsorships will require companies to adopt several measures. These would include scouting around for the best MBA program before sponsoring any employee, ensuring the fairness of the process used for selecting the employee to be sponsored, making the MBA relevant to the career development of the employee, and being sensitive to the employee'swell-being. Most importantly, the success of MBA sponsorship depends on the cooperation and open communication among the student, the sponsoring firm and the business school.

Getting to grips with repetitive strain injuries

Article Abstract:

Repetitive strain injuries (RSI) are occurring more often as automated work stations and high speed keyboards are becoming more prevalent in today's modern offices. British labor unions are promoting public awareness of RSI and the Trade Union Council is holding a special conference in 1989 to put forth specific RSI prevention codes. Prevention is currently the best cure, but unfortunately most employers do not seek the advice of ergonomic experts until problems and complaints have already surfaced.
