Article Abstract:

Continuously updated and extensive information services covering the safe use of chemicals within the chemical industry should help prevent serious accidents taking place. There are a wide number of easily accessible and informative databases, offering advice on how to ensure safety for workers and how to deal with accidents, no matter what size. Companies dealing with chemicals should maintain effective communication lines with risk management personnel at all times to ensure accidents can be dealt with swiftly and safely.

The powerful biocidal properties of glutaraldehyde disinfectants require strict risk management procedures are adhered to when in use. Hospitals must ensure staff using glutaraladehyde are fully trained in the correct methods of employing the biocide, and communication lines are kept open to adequately deal with any serious spillages or misuse. Health and safety regulations require a nominated person to be responsible when gluataraldehyde is in use.
