Hire spending

Article Abstract:

A Globe Research Corp study of 614 Personnel Journal subscribers reveals that from 1986 to 1988, companies increased their spending on recruitment by 70%, giving support to the belief that even during corporate cutbacks, finding the right employee is important. Nearly every organization responding to the survey has a function for recruitment or employment, and this function is overseen by the personnel department 99% of the time. Eight-seven percent of the organizations have a recruitment-employment budget, and the larger a business is, the better chance it has of having a budget for this purpose. Organizations reported using many means for recruiting employees, including: recruitment media; agencies and executive search firms; job fairs; and college recruitment.
