Responses to a single equality body

Article Abstract:

The UK government published a consultation document, 'Towards equality and diversity-making it happen' thus proposing ways to support new and existing equality laws. The responses of various single equality bodies including Disability Rights Commission (DRC), Equal Opportunities Commission (EOC), Trade Union Congress (TUC), Discrimination Law Association (DLA), and others towards the consultation are presented.

Equality bill reintroduced

Article Abstract:

The salient provisions contained in the revised Equality bill introduced in the United Kingdom's House of Lords on June 15, 2005, are discussed. The bill was first introduced on April 5, 2005, but could not be approved because of lack of time due to general elections. The bills covers equality and human rights aspects related to communities, disabilities, religion etc.

Equality Bill establishes CEHR from October 2007

The Equality Bill proposed by the government of United Kingdom will come into effect from October 2007. The purpose of the Equality Bill is to establish the Commission for Equality and Human Rights (CEHR) and define its purpose and function.
