Ruling on occupational pension rights of transsexuals

Article Abstract:

In a landmark judgment the ECJ ruled that the national legislation denying transsexuals, the right to marry is against the provisions of Community law if it was solely for the purpose of denying an individual any entitlement to a survivor's pension. The survivor's pension for the spouse had to take legal recourse as survivor benefits were denied to the spouse who had concerted from female to male.

The issue on the amendments submitted by the government to the parliament, regarding the bank pension fund reform in the banking sector in mid-June in Greece is discussed. The government is planning to incorporate reforms to banking employees pension funds.
